Chhattisgarh News: Councilors Should Remain Sensitive Towards Problems of Public, says Governor Uikey

Raipur, 15th March. Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Tuesday attended the general meeting of Raipur Municipal Corporation. After reaching the corporation office of Mahatma Gandhi Sadan, the Governor paid homage to the father of the nation by garlanding his idol.
During this, MLA duo Satyanarayan Sharma, Kuldeep Juneja, Mayor Ejaz Dhebar and Chairman Pramod Dubey, Leader of Opposition Minal Choubey and women councilors gave a warm welcome to Governor Uikey.
This is probably the first time that a governor has attended a general meeting of a municipal corporation.
Addressing the general meeting of the Municipal Corporation, Governor Uikey called upon the councilors to work according to the aspirations of the people and be sensitive to the problems of the people. All of you councilors are the voice of the people and it is also your responsibility to fulfill the basic needs of the common people, she said.
She added, do not be arrogant in your conduct and rituals. Visit your area regularly and also take feedback of your work from people, so that you are aware of what people want. Uikey said that urban bodies and village panchayats are the primary schools of democracy.
The people’s representatives who have been elected here are introduced for the first time to democracy and parliamentary functioning. This is my first experience in this house. Like Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, there are questions and answers of pros and cons, time is fixed for question hour and calling attention. Certainly the role of the House would have been important in making Raipur a clean, beautiful and smart city.
She said that I did not hold elected posts of urban bodies or village panchayats, but I got to learn a lot from college politics. All of you will also be learning continuously from this house which will be helpful in your future political career. People are occupying many important posts after leaving the house of the urban body.
The Governor of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais was once a member of this House. Many MLAs and MPs have also started their journey from this house. The more good work you do, the more people’s affection and respect you will get and you will reach new heights in your future political career.
Governor Ms. Uikey said that while holding various posts, I visited many states of the country. In Chhattisgarh, wherever I went across the state, people accepted and respected me with great affinity. The people of the state are very simple, easygoing and soft spoken, which proves the significance of Chhattisgarhiya Sabse Badhiya.
Governor Uikey in her remarks appreciated the remarkable work done by the corporation in Raipur city including initiatives like Vivekananda Sarovar, Telibandha Talab beautification and Nalanda Library, Pink Toilet. During this, Mayor Ejaz Dhebar, ChairmanPramod Dubey and Commissioner Municipal Corporation Prabhat Malik also addressed the gathering.
