Chhattisgarh Governor Uikey Discusses Fifth Schedule, PESA Act & Other Issues with PM Modi
Demands special package for Bastar and Surguja divisions

New Delhi/Raipur. 7th April. Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
Governor Uikey informed the Prime Minister about the current situation of the state while discussing various problems of the state along with the tribes in Chhattisgarh.
She requested for the implementation of MESA law in the urban areas falling under the Fifth Schedule. She said that with the implementation of MESA law, tribes will get their constitutional rights.
Apart from this, she discussed making rules regarding PESA law for rural areas. During the discussion, the Governor apprised Prime Minister Modi about the problems of tribals.
Governor Uikey apprised the Prime Minister about the quantitative errors in the caste names of the tribes and said that it is making it difficult for eligible persons to obtain caste certificates. The Governor also requested for an early decision on this issue.
Governor Ms. Uikey said that during her stay in different districts of the state, she interacted with the tribes, saw and understood their problems. She discussed with Prime Minister Modi and explained the need to take many decisions regarding the development of the tribals of the state.
She urged that the universities located in tribal dominated districts should be upgraded as Central Tribal University so that the tribal communities here can benefit. During the discussion, Ms. Uikey said that there is a need to preserve the art culture of the tribes of these areas as well. For this, she requested that these tribes should be researched and documented so that their culture can be recognized throughout the country. Governor Uikey has also requested Prime Minister Modi to give a special package for the proper development of tribals living in Bastar and Surguja divisions. She said that by getting the special package, education and health related facilities will be expanded in these areas, youth will get employment and tribal communities will get better development.
Ms. Uikey also discussed the Anganwadi workers, urban social workers (USHA) and ASHA workers of the country and said that these workers are diligently performing their work in the rural areas of the country including the state. They have been working continuously even during the Corona period.
Appreciating the work of these workers, Uikey requested PM Modi to increase their honorarium as well as to consider their stabilization.
The Governor thanked PM Modi for including four districts of Purvanchal Chandauli, Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Sant Ravidas Nagar among the tribal districts.
On the occasion, Governor Uikey honored the Prime Minister with a memento and shawl.
