Amaravati, 4th June.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to take the oath as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 9, according to sources. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event.

With the TDP-led alliance heading for a landslide victory, leading in 158 out of 175 assembly constituencies, Mr. Naidu is set to govern Andhra Pradesh once again. This will be his fourth term as Chief Minister, having previously served from 1995 to 2004 in undivided Andhra Pradesh and as the first Chief Minister of the residuary state post-bifurcation in 2014.

At 74, Mr. Naidu has made a remarkable comeback after his party’s defeat by the YSR Congress Party in 2019, leveraging an anti-establishment sentiment. His strategic alliance with the Jana Sena Party (JSP) led by actor-politician Pawan Kalyan and the BJP has been instrumental in this turnaround.

The TDP has secured a clear lead in 131 assembly segments, achieving a significant majority independently. Mr. Naidu is also leading in the Kuppam constituency, a seat he has represented since 1989.

Nara Lokesh, Mr. Naidu’s son and TDP general secretary, is ahead in the Mangalagiri constituency, a notable achievement following his previous defeat in the same segment.

The TDP is also leading in 16 out of 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the tripartite alliance ahead in 21 seats. In 2019, the TDP won only 23 assembly seats and three Lok Sabha seats, highlighting the dramatic shift in voter sentiment this election cycle.
