Consul General Pratik Mathur visits Novelis plant; discusses EV, circular economy cooperation

Shanghai, 16th July: In a bid to deepen industrial cooperation in clean mobility and automation, Consul General of India in Shanghai, Pratik Mathur, visited the Novelis-Aditya Birla facility in Changzhou, a fast-growing hub for electric vehicles and high-tech manufacturing in China.
During his visit, Mr. Mathur engaged in discussions with Novelis Managing Director Mr. James Liu and Xinbei District Party Secretary Mr. Zhou Qing, exploring opportunities for joint collaboration in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, circular economy initiatives, and advanced industrial integration.
The dialogue emphasized the role of Indian companies in strengthening global innovation chains through strategic R&D tie-ups and backward linkages. Both sides also discussed India’s growing focus on sustainable mobility and the integration of clean technologies to drive the next phase of industrial growth.
The Consulate reiterated its support for Indian firms seeking partnerships in China’s dynamic manufacturing ecosystem, especially in areas aligned with India’s growth priorities such as EV platforms, lightweight materials, and smart automation solutions.
The visit is part of India’s ongoing diplomatic engagement to foster cross-border industrial partnerships and enhance bilateral economic cooperation with key global stakeholders.
