CBI Raids 40 Places in Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh in Case of Fake Gun License Scam

New Delhi, 12th Oct. CBI has conducted simultaneous raids on 40 locations including Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh by running a search operation. Under this search operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided the house of Basir Khan, former advisor to the Lieutenant Governor. According to the information received, raids are going on the premises of Basir Ahmed Khan as well as other bureaucrats/administrators.

Actually these raids are being conducted in the case of fake gun license scam. Basir Khan was advisor to Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu and his successor Manoj Sinha since March 2020.

Three months ago, also in a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir and 2 senior IAS officers were also taken under investigation. These officers include Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary and Neeraj Kumar. Both the IAS officers were accused of being involved in the issue of 2 lakh fake gun licenses.

According to the data released by the government, Jammu and Kashmir is on top in the country in terms of issuing gun licenses. From the year 2018 to 2020, the maximum number of licenses were issued in the state as compared to the whole country. According to the data, in the last two years 22,805 licenses were issued across the country, out of which about 18,000 were issued in Jammu and Kashmir alone. That is, 81 percent of the licenses of the entire country were issued only from Kashmir. It is being said that this is now the biggest gun racket ever in the history of India.
