Jaipur, 20th Dec: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Jaipur Bench, on Friday directed the Rajasthan government to grant all pending promotions and service-related perquisites to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Pankaj Choudhary, IPS, through the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).

The order was passed after the Tribunal concluded the hearing on Choudhary’s promotion petition, which lasted for about an hour. The Bench observed that promotions and benefits due to the officer had remained pending for an extended period and must now be granted in accordance with rules.

During the hearing, Choudhary’s counsel, Advocate Anupam Agarwal, argued that the state government had deliberately delayed promotions despite judicial directions. He submitted that repeated administrative hurdles and disregard of court decisions had adversely affected the officer’s career progression.

The Tribunal’s ruling is being viewed as a strong reaffirmation of judicial impartiality and institutional credibility. Observers noted that while justice may face delays, the verdict reinforces accountability within the administrative system.

IPS officer Pankaj Choudhary, known in Rajasthan for his integrity and professional competence, is currently serving as DIG. The order is expected to have wider implications for similar promotion-related disputes pending in the state.
