WASHINGTON – Canadian Government on Monday has listed the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a “terrorist entity” under the Criminal Code, the Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree announced.

Gary Anandasangaree said that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in Canada and the terror listing will give the government more power and tools to confront it.

“Specific communities have been targeted for terror, violence and intimidation by the Bishnoi Gang. Listing this group of criminal terrorists gives us more powerful and effective tools to confront and put a stop to their crimes,” he said.

Canada had alleged that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is the action arm of the Government of India.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police had accused the Indian government of using the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang to target Sikh separatists in Canada.

The RCMP had stated that its findings stemmed from extensive investigations carried out with “the highest standards in law enforcement.”

“The RCMP has collected evidence through continuous and comprehensive investigations, conducted in accordance with the highest standards in law enforcement. Investigations have revealed that some of the alleged criminal activities occurring in Canada were conducted by the BISHNOI gang.

“Investigations also revealed that BISHNOI is the action arm of the Government of India and he directs these criminal operations from jail in India,” the RCMP had said.

India had rejected the Canadian accusations.
