New Delhi, 26th Feb: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, will undertake an official visit to India from February 27 to March 2, 2026. This will be Prime Minister Carney’s first official visit to India.
Prime Minister Carney will arrive in Mumbai on February 27. During his stay, he will participate in multiple business engagements and interact with Indian and Canadian CEOs, industry leaders, financial experts, innovators and educators. He is also scheduled to meet representatives of Canadian pension funds operating in India.
The Canadian Prime Minister will travel to New Delhi on March 1. On March 2, delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Carney will be held at Hyderabad House.
The discussions are expected to review progress under the India–Canada Strategic Partnership and build upon earlier meetings held in Kananaskis in June 2025 and Johannesburg in November 2025.
Key areas of cooperation include trade and investment, energy security, critical minerals, agriculture, education, research and innovation, and people-to-people ties. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global developments.
Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Carney will jointly attend the India–Canada CEOs Forum later on March 2.
The visit comes at a crucial stage in the normalization of bilateral ties. Both leaders have earlier agreed to pursue a constructive and balanced partnership rooted in mutual respect, strong community linkages and expanding economic complementarities.
The upcoming meeting is expected to reaffirm positive momentum and chart a forward-looking roadmap for the India–Canada relationship.
