New Delhi, 28th Oct: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday approved the Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) rates for the Rabi 2025–26 season (October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026) on Phosphatic and Potassic (P&K) fertilizers, including Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and NPKS grades.

The Cabinet’s decision, aimed at ensuring smooth fertilizer availability to farmers at subsidized and affordable prices, involves a budgetary allocation of ₹37,952.29 crore, which is about ₹736 crore more than the Kharif 2025 requirement.

The approved NBS rates are designed to rationalize subsidies based on the recent global price trends of fertilizers and their key inputs—Urea, DAP, Muriate of Potash (MOP), and Sulphur.

Under the government’s farmer-friendly approach, 28 grades of P&K fertilizers are made available through registered manufacturers and importers at subsidized rates under the NBS scheme, which has been in effect since April 1, 2010.

The subsidy for Rabi 2025–26 will be provided directly to fertilizer companies at the approved rates, ensuring that farmers continue to access essential fertilizers at reasonable prices throughout the upcoming agricultural season.
