Cabinet Approves MoU Signing Between India & Oman on Cooperation in Information Technology Field

The Cabinet has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Oman in the field of Information Technology.

The MoU was signed on December 15, 2023, between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India and the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology of Oman.

The purpose of the MoU is to promote cooperation between the two countries in the field of Information Technology through mutual support, sharing of technologies, information, and investments.

The MoU will be in effect for a period of 3 years. It aims to enhance both government-to-government and business-to-business cooperation in the IT sector and create employment opportunities.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India has been tasked with promoting international cooperation in emerging areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

They have entered into MoUs and agreements with various countries to foster cooperation in the ICT domain.

This aligns with the Indian government’s initiatives such as Digital India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Make in India, which aim to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.

The MoU with Oman will further explore business opportunities, share best practices, and attract investment in the digital sector to enhance mutual cooperation.
