Chitrakoot, 29th May: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi was warmly received at the Chitrakoot ashram of renowned spiritual leader Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, where he was not just blessed—but also given a bold spiritual mission.
During the visit on Wednesday, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, a revered Hindu scholar and saint, symbolically invoked India’s ancient epics and told General Dwivedi that he had been initiated with the same Ram Mantra that Lord Hanuman was given before his legendary journey to Lanka. Drawing a parallel, he requested the Army Chief to bring back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as a modern-day guru dakshina—a sacred offering traditionally made by disciples to their teacher.
“India has 240 million proud Muslims. We are not against anyone’s religion,” the saint said, also indirectly touching upon Pakistan’s repeated attempts to project the India-Pakistan conflict as a Hindu-Muslim issue. But his core message was sharp and clear—PoK must return to India.
General Dwivedi listened respectfully, engaged in spiritual discussions, and interacted with saints and students at the ashram, where the message of nationalism echoed alongside spiritual chants. His visit comes just weeks after Operation Sindoor, India’s targeted response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that killed 26 civilians. The operation struck terror bases in both Pakistan and PoK, followed by days of intense cross-border fire that finally led to a ceasefire on May 10. However, the Indian government has clarified that Operation Sindoor is still active.
Rambhadracharya’s request reflects the deep-rooted national sentiment that PoK rightfully belongs to India. “What Hanuman did with faith and strength, India must now do with resolve and strategy,” one of the saints at the ashram remarked during the interaction.
