Brijesh Kalappa, a well-known face in media outlet debates and a Supreme Court advocate, has resigned from the party’s primary membership, ending his 25-year association.
In a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, he stated that he has recently been “lacking in passion,” while his own performance has been “listless and perfunctory.”
Kalappa thanked Sonia Gandhi for “patronage” in a letter dated May 30, thanking her for opportunities given to him, including his appointment as Legal Advisor to the Government of Karnataka with the rank of Minister during the party’s rule in the state.
He stated that he has been representing the party on Hindi, English, and Kannada channels since the UPA years in 2013- for nearly a decade- and has clocked 6,497 debates. He also stated that the party has regularly assigned political work to him, which he has performed to the best of his ability.
“Even during the worst of times for the Party, in the aftermath of the 2014 and 2019 debacles, I have never felt drained of energy and enthusiasm. But, in recent times, I’ve found myself lacking in passion, and my own performance has been listless and perfunctory “According to Kalappa. “I am left with little choice but to resign from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress and to end an association that began in 1997,” he added.
According to some party sources, he was also upset about not being considered as a candidate for the state’s recent MLC and upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
