New Delhi, 25th March.
The latest candidate list of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections includes two prominent personalities from the entertainment industry – Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and renowned ‘Ramayan’ actor Arun Govil.

While Arun Govil, famous for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic TV serial Ramayan, has been fielded from the Meerut Lok Sabha seat, Kangana Ranaut will contest from her hometown of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

The 37-year-old actress, a vocal supporter of the BJP, expressed gratitude to the party for nominating her as their candidate for the Mandi constituency. She acknowledged her unconditional support for the BJP and affirmed her commitment to the party’s decision.

Arun Govil, who recently joined the BJP along with singer Anuradha Paudwal, will replace BJP MP Rajendra Agrawal in the Meerut contest. Agrawal had previously represented the Meerut-Hapur constituency three times since 2009.

The BJP’s announcement of 111 more candidates for the Lok Sabha polls also includes Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan contesting from Sambalpur and party spokesperson Sambit Patra seeking re-election from Puri.

However, notable figures like Union Ministers Ashwini Kumar Choubey and VK Singh, along with MP Varun Gandhi, have been omitted from the list.

In a surprising development, VK Singh announced his decision not to contest the Lok Sabha polls earlier in the day.

Other significant nominations include Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh Minister Jitin Prasada replacing Varun Gandhi in Pilibhit, and Sita Soren, who recently switched from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) to BJP, contesting from Dumka in Jharkhand.

The BJP’s decision to drop former Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde from the Uttara Kannada constituency also draws attention to the party’s strategic realignment in various regions ahead of the elections.
