Bhubaneswar, 8th Jan.
A boat carrying Union Minister Parshottam Rupala was stuck in Odisha’s Chilika Lake for around two hours on Sunday evening. Initially, it was suspected that the boat had become entangled in a fishing net, but the Union Minister later clarified that they had simply lost their way in the lake.

The administration promptly sent another vessel to rescue the Minister and his companions, including BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra.

The incident occurred during the Minister’s journey from Barkul to Satapada through the blue lagoon. The boat got stuck near the Nalabana bird sanctuary, and it took them two additional hours to reach their destination.

The Minister’s scheduled programme in Puri district had to be cancelled due to the delay.

The Union Minister is in Odisha as part of the Sagar Parikrama programme to interact with fishermen.

Earlier on Sunday, he launched the programme at Gopalpur harbour in Ganjam district. Rupala, along with Ports, Shipping & Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, will lay the foundation for a project to modernize and upgrade the Paradip fishing harbour tomorrow.
