Kolkata, 26th March: As the political battle for West Bengal intensifies, BJP National President Nitin Nabin visited Kolkata to strategise the party’s campaign against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

During his two-day visit, Nabin held a series of organisational meetings with party leaders from multiple zones, including Howrah, Hooghly and Medinipur, along with interactions with IT, media and coordination teams. He also visited the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, where he addressed the media.

Projecting confidence, Nabin said the BJP would form the government in the state after the election results. “On May 4, the BJP will form the government in West Bengal and a saffron Holi will be celebrated,” he said, aiming to energise party workers.

Framing the election narrative, he described the contest as one between “fear and trust”, accusing the Trinamool Congress government of corruption, extortion and law-and-order failures. He promised that a BJP government would ensure a fear-free, corruption-free and development-oriented administration.

The remarks drew a sharp response from the Trinamool Congress. Party spokesperson Riju Dutta dismissed BJP’s claims, asserting that the people of Bengal trust Mamata Banerjee’s leadership.

Banerjee herself, while campaigning across the state, took a swipe at the BJP, suggesting that its workers would distance themselves after the results.

With the BJP sharpening its attack and the TMC countering aggressively, the political temperature in West Bengal is rising ahead of the Assembly elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to visit Kolkata soon, further intensifying the campaign.
