Patna, 11th Nov: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to emerge as the single largest party in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, according to multiple exit polls released after the second phase of voting. The projections suggest a major shift in Bihar’s political balance, with the BJP expected to displace Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as the dominant force in the state.
Exit polls predict that the BJP could win between 67 and 70 seats, outperforming the RJD, which is likely to secure 56 to 69 seats. Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), meanwhile, is expected to win 58 to 71 seats. On average, the BJP’s projected tally stands at 69 seats, compared to 62 for JD(U) and 63 for RJD.
If these estimates hold true, the BJP will reclaim its position as the “Big Brother” in the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) — a role it has gradually strengthened since 2020. That year, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) split the NDA vote, limiting JD(U)’s performance to just 43 seats.
The nine exit polls released so far — including those by Dainik Bhaskar, Matrize, People’s Insight, Chanakya Strategies, and People’s Pulse — all forecast an NDA victory, with the alliance’s total ranging from 130 to 167 seats. The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), led by RJD, is predicted to secure between 73 and 108 seats.
However, political observers urge caution. Bihar’s complex caste dynamics and multi-cornered contests have repeatedly confounded exit pollsters in the past.
The “poll of polls” — an average of all available data — suggests 147 seats for the NDA and 90 for the Grand Alliance, reinforcing the perception that the BJP’s influence in Bihar continues to expand ahead of the final results.
