Agartala, 24th March: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its list of candidates for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections 2026.

The announcement was made by state BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, outlining nominees across more than 25 constituencies, most of which are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.

Among the key candidates, Rabindra Reang has been fielded from Damchhara-Jampui (ST), Manju Rani Sarkar from Machmarra (General), Sailendra Nath from Dasda-Kanchanpur (General), and Bimal Kanti Chakma from Karamchera (ST). Other notable names include Esmel Joy Tripura from Chawmanu (ST) and Sukesh Datta Barua from Manu-Chailengta (General).

The party has also announced candidates such as Bipin Debbarma, Bhumika Nanda Reang, Ananta Debbarma, Billow Jamatia, David Debbarma, Indrajit Debbarma, and several others across constituencies including Kulai-Champahoura, Maharanipur-Teliamura, Simna-Tamakari, and Ampinagar.

A large number of candidates from tribal communities have been fielded, reflecting the political significance of the TTAADC, which governs tribal-majority areas of the state.

The elections to the autonomous district council are expected to witness a multi-cornered contest, with regional parties and opposition groups also gearing up to challenge the BJP’s dominance in the tribal belt.

The TTAADC polls are seen as crucial for shaping the political narrative in Tripura ahead of future state-level elections.
