Bengaluru, 26th Sept: The BJP on Thursday accused the Congress government in Karnataka of “begging” for corporate help after Wipro founder Azim Premji refused a request to open his company’s Sarjapur campus for public traffic to ease Bengaluru’s congestion.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chaluvadi Narayanaswamy said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar were “out with a begging bowl” to cover potholes. “This shows the treasury is empty. We should thank Wipro. They give thousands of crores for school meals, while the government would only misuse such funds,” he alleged.

Premji, in a letter to Siddaramaiah, acknowledged the city’s traffic crisis and backed a scientific, long-term solution but declined to allow outside vehicles into the SEZ-designated campus, citing legal and contractual restrictions.

Siddaramaiah had sought corporate support to ease choke points on the Outer Ring Road, but the BJP said the request itself exposed the Congress government’s financial and administrative weakness.
