New Delhi, 27th Jan. In light of the impending Lok Sabha elections, the BJP named a number of party officials as in-charges and co-in-charges for states and Union Territories (UTs) on Saturday.

Among the notable figures is the national vice president of the party, Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda, who will lead Uttar Pradesh, and former chief minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, who will lead Punjab.

JP Nadda, the leader of the BJP, has named Vinod Tawde and Deepak Prakash as in-charge and co-in-charge, respectively, of Bihar, a state that is going through political unrest. The state of West Bengal, which is governed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has been placed under the leadership of Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT cell, and politicians Mangal Pandey and Asha Lakra. Madhya Pradesh’s in-charge and co-in-charge have been named as party leaders Mahendra Singh and Satish Upadhyay.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Laxmikant Vajpayee in Jharkhand, Viplav Dev and Surend Nagar in Haryana, and Shrikant Sharma and Sanjay Tandon in Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh, the saffron party has appointed Tarun Chugh and Ashish Sood. The Congress has designated Radhamohan Agarwal and Sudhakar Reddy as the in-charge and co-in-charge, respectively, of Karnataka, another state under its jurisdiction.

April/May is most likely when the Lok Sabha election will take place. The dates of the poll, which will take place in stages, have not yet been announced by the poll Commission (EC). As PM Modi prepares to blow the vote trumpet, the BJP releases a new campaign song.
