- BJP releases second list of 111 candidates for Bengal polls
- Total candidates announced rises to 255
- Nisith Pramanik, Roopa Ganguly among prominent names

Kolkata, 20th March: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday released its second list of 111 candidates for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, taking the total number of घोषित nominees to 255.
Among the big names in the list is former Union Minister Nisith Pramanik, who has been fielded from the Mathabhanga constituency. Pramanik had earlier represented the Cooch Behar Lok Sabha seat before losing in the 2024 general elections.
The list also features around 19 women candidates, including actor-turned-politician Roopa Ganguly, who will contest from Sonarpur Dakshin, and Rekha Patra, fielded from Hingalganj.
Other key candidates include Kaushik Roy (Maynaguri), Noman Rai (Darjeeling), Ashim Kumar Biswas (Ranaghat Dakshin), Subrata Thakur (Gaighata) and Arjun Singh from Noapara.
The BJP has also fielded Dibyendu Adhikari from Egra, while his brother Suvendu Adhikari is contesting from Bhabanipur and Nandigram.
In key urban constituencies, Papiya Dey Adhikari (Tollygunge), Priyanka Tibrewal (Entally), Tapas Roy (Maniktala) and Sudip Kumar Mukherjee (Purulia) have been nominated.
The party also announced minor changes to its first list, naming Viswajit Khan from Bishnupur and Biswajit Mahato from Joypur.
The first list, released earlier, included 144 candidates, featuring Suvendu Adhikari’s high-profile contest against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur, along with his candidature from Nandigram.
Polling for the West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting scheduled for May 4.
The BJP is aiming to mount a strong challenge against the ruling Trinamool Congress as the state gears up for a closely watched electoral battle.
