Barabanki, 4th March.
One day after an obscene video allegedly featuring him surfaced on social media, BJP MP Upendra Singh Rawat announced his decision to refrain from contesting any elections until proven innocent. Despite being nominated by the party from Barabanki once again for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Rawat has opted to take this stance.

Rawat, who has been nominated by the party from Barabanki for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has vehemently denied the authenticity of the video and has called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

In a statement posted on X platform in Hindi, the first-time MP asserted, “A fake video of mine generated by deepfake AI technology is being made viral, for which I have lodged an FIR.” He further disclosed that he has urged the party president to initiate an inquiry into the scandal.

Expressing his commitment to proving his innocence, Rawat affirmed, “I will not contest any election in public life until I am proven innocent.”
