Bengaluru, 5th Nov: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday took a jibe at the ongoing power tussle within the Karnataka Congress, posting an AI-generated video depicting a “musical chair” contest among four senior state leaders vying for the Chief Minister’s post.
The animated clip shows caricatures of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Home Minister G. Parameshwara, and Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi circling the Chief Minister’s chair — each hoping to outpace the others.
The Karnataka BJP shared the video on X with the caption, “Countdown to the November Revolution!” — echoing its prediction of a possible leadership change in the Congress-led state government.
Political corridors in Karnataka have been rife with speculation about a potential power shift within the Congress ever since the party came to power in 2023. Back then, Shivakumar, credited with steering the Congress to victory, was seen as a strong contender for the top job. However, the party high command eventually backed Siddaramaiah, persuading Shivakumar to take up the roles of Deputy Chief Minister and state party chief.
Reports of a rotational chief ministership agreement between the two leaders had surfaced at the time, though it was never officially confirmed. As the government nears the halfway mark of its term, Shivakumar’s supporters have once again begun talking about a leadership transition.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah recently said his father is in the “final phase of his political career” and suggested that Satish Jarkiholi could emerge as a capable successor. “He is someone who can uphold the Congress ideology and lead effectively,” Yathindra said, remarks widely viewed as a message to Shivakumar that the CM’s successor could come from Siddaramaiah’s camp.
Dismissing the speculation, Siddaramaiah has publicly rejected any talk of a leadership change. In a sharp response to reporters, he said, “Don’t you have anything else to ask? Who in the high command — Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi or Mallikarjun Kharge — has spoken about this? You in the media are talking about it more than the people.”
As the political temperature in Karnataka rises, the BJP’s satirical video has added a new twist to the Congress’s internal rumblings — turning the ongoing power play into a public spectacle.
