Gondia, 8th Feb. Maharashtra Congress chief, Nana Patole, launched a scathing attack against the BJP-led government on Wednesday, accusing it of failing to address critical issues such as inflation, unemployment, and farmers’ distress.
Speaking at a press conference, Patole asserted that the credit for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya belongs to the millions of people who contributed to the cause, distancing it from political exploitation.
Patole condemned what he described as the BJP government’s mismanagement of the economy, citing concerns over inflation, job losses, and agrarian crises. He pointed to the disillusionment among the populace due to unfulfilled promises made by the Prime Minister, predicting that this dissatisfaction would manifest in the upcoming elections.
Highlighting the alleged exploitation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system, Patole accused the government of favoritism towards certain businesses, exacerbating economic inequality. He criticized the push towards privatization, citing concerns over rising unemployment and national security implications following increased foreign direct investment (FDI) in the defense sector.
Patole further lambasted the government’s handling of national security issues, accusing it of silence in the face of border incursions by China. He also slammed the BJP’s purported efforts to undermine small regional parties and suppress democratic values, citing recent controversies in the Chandigarh mayoral election.
Expressing skepticism towards the Election Commission of India’s impartiality, Patole insinuated that the body may be influenced by the BJP’s agenda. However, he expressed confidence in the Congress’s prospects in the upcoming elections, attributing widespread public discontent to the Modi government’s governance failures.
