BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh Blames Congress for Creating Chaos and Instability in Punjab

Amritsar, 1^st Oct. BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Thursday slammed the Congress for allegedly creating chaos and instability in Punjab ahead of next year’s assembly elections. He said that the abominable fight in Punjab Congress has not only crippled governance in the state, but it has also put national security at risk. Chugh said in a statement that the ISI’s plan on the Punjab border is very clear and has been complicated by the irresponsible Congress government.

He said that if the Congress allows this situation to continue, it may lead to serious law and order problems in the state. He also said that the continuous attack by a section of Congress leaders on the newly appointed Director General of Police of Punjab has demoralized the state police. He said that this is a very dangerous situation for Punjab, which has created a sense of insecurity among the people.

Chugh alleged that the organizational crisis within the Congress has made Punjab an “unstable state” and it is the time that people decisively show the party the way out (from power). He said that tainted ministers have been inducted in the state cabinet to maintain the mafia rule in Punjab and on the other hand some ministers have resigned.

On Tuesday, hours after Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned, Razia Sultana stepped down as the state cabinet minister in solidarity with the senior party leader. With the sudden resignation of Sidhu, the Punjab unit of the party seems to be engulfed in a new crisis. Earlier, the Congress had elected Charanjit Singh Channi as the leader of the State Congress Legislature Party. He was sworn in as the Chief Minister on 20 September.
