Kolkata, 5th Dec:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally kicked off its campaign for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, launching one of its most extensive political outreach exercises in the state to date. On Friday, the party is rolling out 1,300 small and medium rallies across West Bengal, marking the beginning of a long and aggressive election run-up.

Announcing the campaign on Thursday, BJP leader and former state president Rahul Sinha said the party plans to conduct 13,000 rallies across the state by January 15, 2026. This early and sweeping push, he said, reflects the BJP’s intent to build momentum from the ground level months before the official election season begins.

Massive Public Meetings, PM Modi to Lead from the Front

Sinha confirmed that once the roadshows conclude, the party will hold a series of public meetings at both the state and central levels. As part of this outreach, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address at least seven mega public meetings, with the first one scheduled in Ranaghat, Nadia, on December 20.

Senior national figures including Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also visit the state to bolster the campaign. This is the first time the BJP has initiated its Bengal campaign this early, underscoring the party’s determination to challenge the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) with a far more structured strategy.

13,000 Shakti Kendra Roadshows to Engage Booth-Level Workers

Explaining the party’s ground mobilisation plan, Sinha said the first phase of the campaign revolves around Shakti Kendras, organisational units comprising five to seven polling booths. Each Kendra will be the nucleus of booth-level engagement and voter outreach.

The BJP will hold roadshows across all 13,000 Shakti Kendras, with 1,300 of them taking place today between 5 pm and 7 pm. Effectively, nearly every assembly constituency in West Bengal will witness a BJP roadshow on Friday evening.

Sinha stressed that this decentralised model is designed to energise grassroots workers and initiate direct communication with voters well before the election heat rises.

Constituency-Level Meetings to Begin January 15

Once the statewide roadshows are completed, the BJP will shift its attention to large-scale public meetings. From January 15, the party plans to conduct public meetings in every assembly constituency, ensuring that no region is left untouched.

As West Bengal enters a politically charged phase, the BJP’s early launch signals an all-out effort to expand its influence, strengthen cadre networks, and project itself as the most formidable challenger to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s TMC in 2026.
