New Delhi, 7th Oct. The Delhi BJP demanded on Friday that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal fire his minister Rajendra Pal Gautam, accusing him of disrespecting Hindu gods.

The Kejriwal government’s social welfare minister, Gautam, was unavailable for comment.

Gautam showed “disrespect” for Hindu deities in front of thousands of people during a Dussehra program at Karol Bagh, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta alleged during a press conference.

“This is not an isolated incident, it is in the character of the AAP to insult and disrespect Hindu gods and goddesses. We demand Kejriwal immediately expel Gautam from his Cabinet,” Gupta said.

Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP, also demanded Gautam’s dismissal, claiming that his actions could incite animosity between the Hindu and Buddhist communities.

Gautam appeared in the program where people converting to Buddhism reportedly took vows to follow Lord Buddha’s teachings and abandon worship of Hindu deities.
