Lucknow, 6th Feb. The BJP on Monday hailed Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel’s address to the joint sitting of the legislature, depicting it as a vibrant portrayal of the state’s “renaissance period.” On the other hand, the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) alleged that the ruling party had faltered in various domains.
During the discussion on the Governor’s Address in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s Budget session, BJP member Neeraj Bora moved the motion of thanks on behalf of his party, supported by BJP’s Sarita Bhadauria. Bora praised the governor’s address, particularly highlighting the re-establishment of Lord Ram’s honor in Ayodhya, calling it a testament to Indian culture.
In contrast, SP MLA Lalji Verma criticized the governor’s address, asserting that the BJP government, despite its promise of a corruption-free administration, had failed in all aspects. Verma accused the government of presenting misleading figures and failing to deliver on its commitments.
SP MLA Toofani Saroj targeted BJP members, alleging their selective invocation of Lord Ram while ignoring Lord Hanuman, which he claimed led to BJP’s electoral setbacks in Karnataka. BJP members defended their stance, citing past incidents during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s tenure.
Amidst the exchanges, BJP’s Shalabh Mani Tripathi slammed the opposition’s behavior during the governor’s address, while Rashtriya Lok Dal’s Ashraf Ali highlighted unemployment as a pressing issue. SP MLA Durga Prasad Yadav echoed the sentiment of government failure across various fronts.
The deliberations highlighted the contrasting perspectives on the state’s governance and priorities, setting the stage for further debates and discussions in the assembly.
