Bill Gates Arrives in Odisha, Set to Engage in Programs Promoting Tech Innovation

Microsoft co-founder and renowned philanthropist, Bill Gates, made a notable arrival in the Odisha capital on Tuesday night, gearing up for a series of engagements slated for Wednesday. Among the highlights of his itinerary is an event focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to empower farmers, showcasing Gates’ commitment to harnessing technology for societal benefit.

Scheduled to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Gates will also participate in various programs aligned with Odisha government initiatives, including the ‘Jaga Mission’ aimed at slum development, the ‘Mukta’ scheme promoting employment opportunities for the urban poor, and ‘Mission Shakti’, an empowerment initiative.

Officials revealed that since 2017, the Odisha government’s Department of Agriculture & Farmer Empowerment, along with the Fisheries and Animal Resource Department, has collaborated closely with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This partnership has been instrumental in driving innovation in data-driven decision-making processes, with a focus on enhancing agricultural practices and rural development.
