Patna, 23rd Oct: As the nomination process for both phases of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 concludes, the wealth declarations of candidates have brought new political buzz. The affidavits reveal a notable contrast between the fortunes of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s two sons — Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav.
According to the election affidavits, Tejashwi Yadav, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, is 2.5 times wealthier than his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav.
Tej Pratap’s total assets amount to ₹2.88 crore, including ₹91.65 lakh in movable assets and ₹1.96 crore in immovable property. His income for the financial year 2024–25 stood at ₹22.93 lakh, of which ₹22.67 lakh is tax-exempt under Section 10(17) of the Income Tax Act. Notably, he has no outstanding loans.
In contrast, Tejashwi Yadav declared assets worth ₹8.1 crore, comprising ₹6.12 crore in movable assets and ₹1.88 crore in immovable property. His wife, Rajshri (Rachel Iris Godinho), owns assets valued at ₹1.88 crore, including ₹59.69 lakh worth of immovable property.
The affidavit further states that Tejashwi holds ₹1.5 lakh in cash, while his wife has ₹1 lakh in hand. He also has joint liabilities of ₹55.55 lakh — loans taken along with his brother Tej Pratap and mother, former CM Rabri Devi. Additionally, government dues linked to him total ₹1.35 crore.
On personal assets, Tejashwi declared ownership of 200 grams of gold, while his wife possesses 480 grams of gold and 2 kilograms of silver.
The revelations have once again stirred conversations in Bihar’s political circles, spotlighting not only the brothers’ contrasting fortunes but also their growing prominence ahead of the 2025 polls.
