Bihar Govt Transfers 22 IAS, 79 IPS & 45 Administrative Service Officers in Major Reshuffle

The Bihar Government on January 26, 2024, transferred a total of 22 IAS officers, 79 IPS officers, and 45 Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) officers on January 26. This includes the transfer of five District Magistrates (DMs) and 17 Superintendents of Police (SPs).

According to a notification from the general administration department, Chandrasekhar Singh, a 2010-batch IAS officer and the District Magistrate of Patna, has been appointed as the Special Secretary in the Chief Minister’s secretariat. Singh recently made headlines for his disagreement with the State Education Department regarding the closure of schools in Patna due to cold weather. He has been replaced by Shirsat Kapil Ashok, a 2011-batch IAS officer who is currently serving as the Inspector General (Prisons).

Naval Kishor Choudhary, a 2013-batch IAS officer and the District Magistrate of Gopalganj, will now take over as the new District Magistrate of Bhagalpur.

Subrat Kumar Sen, also a 2013-batch IAS officer and the District Magistrate of Bhagalpur, has been appointed as the District Magistrate of Muzaffarpur.

Arvind Kumar Choudhary, a 1995-batch IAS officer currently serving as the Principal Secretary of Finance, has been given additional responsibility as the Principal Secretary of the Rural Development Department.

Senthil K Kumar, a 1996-batch IAS officer and the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, has been appointed as the new Principal Secretary of the Planning Department. Safeena AN, a 1997-batch IAS officer and the Principal Secretary of the Minorities Welfare Department, has been appointed as a Member of the Revenue Board.

In addition, 79 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including 17 Superintendents of Police (SPs) posted in different districts, were also transferred on January 26.

Sushil Mansingh Khopde, a 1995-batch IPS officer currently serving as the Additional Director General (Operations) of the Special Task Force (STF), has been appointed as the Additional Director General (Prohibition).

Amrit Raj, a 1998-batch IPS officer and the current Additional Director General (Prohibition), has been appointed as the Additional Director General (Operations).

Other transfers include Deepak Ranjan, a 2012-batch IPS officer currently serving as the Superintendent of Police in Jehanabad, who has been transferred as the Commandant of the Bihar Special Armed Police in Bodh Gaya.

Sushant Kumar Saroj, the Superintendent of Police in Naugachia, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police in Bagaha.

Ashok Kumar Singh, the Superintendent of Police in Araria, has been made the Commandant of the Bihar Special Armed Police in Sasaram.

Shailesh Kumar Sinha, the Superintendent of Police in Siwan, has been made the Commandant of the Bihar Special Armed Police in Patna.

Upendra Nath Verma, the Superintendent of Police in Saharasha, is the new Superintendent of Police in Purnea.

Amitesh Kumar, the Superintendent of Police in Khagaria, will take charge as the Superintendent of Police in Siwan.

Furthermore, 45 officers of the Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) have also been given new postings.

This follows the transfer of 29 senior IAS officers on January 23 as part of a major bureaucratic reshuffle. The recent transfers and postings are part of a routine exercise, according to a senior official from the general administration department.
