Patna, 24th Aug: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in Bihar is proceeding smoothly and is on track to be completed ahead of its scheduled deadline. According to a recent announcement from the Press Information Bureau, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has received documents for an impressive 98.2% of electors with eight days still left before the September 1 deadline.

The Election Commission has commended the extensive efforts of a wide range of people, from the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar and District Election Officers to the 90,712 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and a large number of volunteers. The collaborative participation of representatives from all 12 major political parties has also been a key factor in the process’s success.

The ongoing period for submitting claims and objections, which began on August 1, provides an opportunity for electors to correct any errors in the draft rolls and submit any necessary documents they may not have provided earlier. The official report indicates that in the 60-day period from June 24 to August 24, a significant majority of citizens have completed this crucial step.

Out of 7.24 crore electors in the draft rolls, 3,28,847 new electors who have recently turned 18 have also submitted their forms. Furthermore, the concerned Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers are conducting a concurrent verification of all submitted documents to ensure accuracy. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on September 30, 2025, following the completion of all verifications and decisions on claims.
