Bihar Assembly Erupts into Chaos as Tejashwi and Deputy CM Clash Over Voter Roll Revision

GG News Bureau
Patna, 25th July: The heat continued to rise in Bihar’s Monsoon session on its fifth day as opposition leaders staged fierce protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. RJD veteran Rabri Devi, alongside other Congress and RJD members, intensified their protest within the assembly premises against the Election Commission’s implementation of SIR.

Rabri Devi’s Scathing Attack

Rajya Sabha MP Rabri Devi launched a blistering attack on Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, accusing him of past misconduct:

“In his childhood, he used to intimidate people on Boring Road… even molest girls.”

She added that this isn’t just a political issue, but a question of public trust and concern for the poor. She warned that those who have migrated will be denied voter ID cards and effectively disenfranchised. “That is why we are surrounding the process,” she emphasized.

Assembly Descends into Verbal Warfare

As Tejashwi Yadav began speaking on the issue, heated exchanges erupted between RJD and BJP-JDU lawmakers—escalating into a chaotic verbal fight. Initially, the confrontation was between Tejashwi and Samrat Chaudhary, who engaged in an aggressive war of words. Legislators from both sides stood up and joined in the debate face-to-face.

Seeing the situation spiral, Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav was forced to intervene. Tejashwi alleged massive fraud in the voter list revision process. Chaudhary responded fiercely, saying:

“Your father was a criminal, went to jail—so who decides what’s right or wrong?”

He even labeled Tejashwi a ‘looter’. The rhetorical salvo between the two sparked a back-and-forth of “Who are you to decide?”

BJP MLAs Jump In; Tensions Escalate

The clash intensified when BJP MLA Janak Singh rose to speak. Tejashwi accused Singh of hurling abusive and obscene remarks involving his mother and sister. In a sarcastic retort, Tejashwi quipped:

“Speak so loudly, and your pants might get wet.”

That comment ignited further uproar. A physical scuffle seemed imminent as tempers flared. Seeing the chaotic atmosphere, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings and exited his chair, effectively halting the session.

Legislative Security Under the Spotlight

This explosive turn of events has put assembly security protocols and the handling of heated debates in the spotlight. The ongoing dispute over SIR, combined with direct confrontations and personal attacks, has created a political spectacle—raising calls for a reevaluation of safety measures within legislative spaces.
