Mumbai, 17th September. As the Shiv Sena’s political turmoil continues, party chiefs from 12 states have now supported Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Chiefs of the Shiv Sena from 12 of the 15 states have joined the Eknath Shinde faction.

Shiv Sena presidents from 12 states were included in the Shinde faction at a meeting on Thursday, September 15. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured all state heads of his full support for the party’s growth in their respective states.

Those joining the Eknath Shinde faction include Delhi Shiv Sena state chief Sandeep Choudhary, Manipur chief Tombi Singh, Madhya Pradesh chief Thadeshwar Mahawar, Chhattisgarh chief Dhananjay Parihar, Gujarat chief S.R. Patil, Rajasthan chief Lakhan Singh Pawar.

Apart from these, Hyderabad chief Murari Anna, Goa chief Jitesh Kamat, Karnataka chief Kumar A Hakri, West Bengal chief Shanti Dutta, Odisha state in-charge Jyotisree Prasanna Kumar, Tripura state in-charge Barivadev Nath have been included.

After the 2019 state Assembly elections, the Shiv Sena had a falling out with its traditional saffron ally, claiming that the BJP leadership had broken its promise to share the post of chief minister on a rotating basis between the two parties. Relations between the saffron allies deteriorated, especially after Thackeray joined forces with the NCP and Congress to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Eknath Shinde and 39 Sena MLAs successfully rebelled against the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government in June of this year. While Shinde later formed the government with BJP support, the party has remained embroiled in a political squabble between the two camps.

Last week, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attacked Thackeray, claiming that his leadership style was to blame for the Shiv Sena’s split.

“Only Uddhav Thackeray is responsible for the political debacle and crisis in Maharashtra. Around 30-40 MLAs left the MVA alliance and he had no idea about it. Uddhav ji used to say in his speeches – ‘You can try to bring down my government’. I said – ‘One day your government will come down and you won’t even realise it’. And that is exactly what happened,” Fadnavis said during an event.
