New Delhi/ West Singhbhum: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday said that a major breakthrough has been achieved in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in Jharkhand, with the killing of notorious Naxalite Central Committee member ‘Anal’ alias Patiram Manjhi and 15 other Naxalites in West Singhbhum district.
In a post on X, Shah said the joint operation carried out by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jharkhand Police led to the elimination of Patiram Manjhi, who carried a reward of ₹1 crore on his head and was a key figure in the Naxalite leadership.
Describing the development as a major success, the Home Minister said the operation marks a decisive step in the government’s intensified campaign against Left Wing Extremism in affected regions. He said the Centre remains firmly committed to eradicating Naxalism from the country before March 31, 2026.
Shah said Naxalism has been synonymous with fear and terror for decades and stressed that the government’s strategy is focused on both security action and development-driven solutions to bring lasting peace to affected areas.
Appealing to remaining Naxal cadres, the Home Minister urged them to abandon the path of violence and return to the mainstream. He said those who continue to follow an ideology linked to weapons and terror should instead choose the path of development, trust and integration into society.
The joint operation in West Singhbhum is part of a broader multi-agency effort to dismantle Naxalite networks, leadership structures and logistical bases across Jharkhand and neighbouring states, officials said.
