Bhopal Horror: Man Strangles Partner, Sleeps Beside Body for Two Days Before Confessing

Bhopal, 1st July: In a horrifying crime that has sent shockwaves through the city, a 29-year-old woman was murdered by her live-in partner, who then spent two nights sleeping beside her body before finally confessing to the crime. The incident took place in Bhopal’s Gayatri Nagar, exposing a chilling tale of jealousy, rage, and a deeply disturbed mind.
According to police, Sachin Rajput (32) strangled Ritika Sen (29) on the night of June 27 following a heated altercation over suspected infidelity. Ritika, employed at a private firm, was allegedly accused by the jobless Rajput of having an affair with her boss. Enraged by the suspicion, Sachin killed her during the argument.
What followed stunned even the investigating officers. Instead of fleeing or alerting anyone, Sachin wrapped Ritika’s body in a blanket, left it on the bed, and remained in the same room for two days, reportedly drinking heavily and sleeping beside her lifeless body.
Confession in Drunken Stupor
On Sunday, overwhelmed and intoxicated, Sachin confessed the murder to his friend Anuj in Misrod. Initially dismissing it as drunken rambling, Anuj ignored the statement. However, when Sachin repeated the confession on Monday morning, Anuj informed the police at around 5 PM.
When a team from Bajaria Police Station reached the scene, they found Ritika’s decomposing body wrapped in the same blanket, just as described. Officers said the couple had been living together in the Gayatri Nagar residence for the past nine months, and had been in a relationship for over three years.
Accused Is Married, Has Children
Police further revealed that Sachin is married and has two children, a fact he concealed during his relationship with Ritika.
“On the night of June 27, the couple had a violent fight. Sachin, consumed by suspicion and rage, strangled Ritika. He stayed in the same room with the corpse for two days and confessed while intoxicated,” said Shilpa Kaurav, in-charge of Bajaria police station.
Sachin hails from Sironj in Vidisha district, and was reportedly unemployed and deeply insecure about Ritika’s work life and independence.
Case Registered, Post-Mortem Awaited
Sachin has been arrested and charged with murder. The post-mortem report is awaited to determine the exact cause and time of death. Police say further investigations are underway.
