New Delhi, 11th Oct: Bhim Army Chief and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad, popularly known as ‘Ravan’, has been accused of emotional manipulation, sexual exploitation, and intimidation by PhD scholar Dr. Rohini Ghavri. The scholar alleged that Azad hid his marriage, emotionally blackmailed her, and later used his political influence to suppress her complaints.

Rohini, in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, claimed that the relationship began in 2021 after meeting Azad in Delhi. “He told me he wasn’t married, but during the 2022 UP Assembly elections, I discovered the truth. When I confronted him, he broke down and said he couldn’t live without me. Later, he emotionally blackmailed me, saying he would die if I left him,” she said.

According to Rohini, the relationship turned abusive when Azad became a Member of Parliament. “After becoming an MP, he told me our relationship had to end because of caste differences and societal pressure. He said, ‘Now I’m a politician; our society won’t accept this.’ When I threatened suicide, he said, ‘If that’s your destiny, so be it,’” she alleged.

Rohini also claimed that Azad attempted to sabotage her career by filing a fraud case against her at the United Nations, accusing her of misusing her fellowship and extorting money. “He tried to destroy my career internationally. But after a full inquiry, I was cleared of all charges,” she said.

The PhD scholar further alleged that despite multiple complaints filed with the National Commission for Women and Delhi Police since June 2025, an FIR has not been registered. “Police initially assured me an FIR within 24 hours, but later said they had ‘orders from above’ to not proceed,” she claimed. Following her lawyer’s advice, she has now recorded her statement before a magistrate under Section 156(3) CrPC.

Rohini, who hails from Indore and is the daughter of a sanitation worker, said she will continue her legal battle. “I come from a humble background. I’ve worked hard for everything I have. Chandrashekhar destroyed my image and tried to silence me using his power,” she said.

Azad’s office, when contacted, declined to answer specific questions, stating only that he has filed a defamation case against Rohini in the High Court and will respond legally.

Police officials familiar with the case refused to comment, citing instructions not to speak on the matter. Rohini, however, insists that senior officers admitted to facing political pressure not to register her FIR.

The case has sparked debate over the alleged misuse of political power and the challenges women face in seeking justice in cases involving influential figures.
