New Delhi, 25th July: Bharat has marked another significant achievement in global trade with the signing of the historic India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), said Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. He said that this moment is being celebrated as a source of pride and new prospects for every citizen, attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s “people-centric trade diplomacy.”

The newly signed treaty is poised to herald a new era of prosperity, particularly benefiting India’s farmers through the waiving of duties on 95% of agricultural exports. Similarly, Indian fishers stand to gain substantially with zero duty on 99% of marine exports to the UK.

Beyond these key sectors, the agreement is designed to significantly boost the “Make in India” initiative and globalize local products. It opens wider international markets for various Indian industries, including artisans, weavers, textile, leather, footwear, gems and jewelry, and toys, elevating their potential to new heights.

The comprehensive agreement aims to increase bilateral trade and strengthen economic ties between the two nations, setting a new benchmark in international trade relations.
