Bengaluru, 7th June: The Bengaluru Police have arrested seven individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a 17-year-old girl, Reema, whose body was discovered stuffed inside a suitcase near the old Chandapura railway bridge on May 21.
The accused, all natives of Nawada district in Bihar, were traced and apprehended by the Suryanagar Police of the Bengaluru Rural division. They are currently being brought back to Karnataka for further investigation, officials confirmed.
Three of the arrested individuals have been identified as Ashiq Kumar, Mukesh, and Rajaram Mohan. According to police sources, Ashiq Kumar is married and has two children. Authorities are now questioning the accused to ascertain the motive behind the gruesome crime.
Initially, it was suspected that the victim was killed elsewhere and her body disposed of from a moving train. However, investigations revealed that the murder occurred at a different location, and the perpetrators used a cab to transport and abandon the suitcase containing the body near the railway tracks.
Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) CK Baba said, “We have begun our investigation. Though such cases typically fall under the railway police’s jurisdiction, we are involved since the incident may have ties to our area. The suitcase contained only the body — no ID or personal belongings were found.”
Earlier, multiple missing person notices were circulated across Karnataka in an effort to identify the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
