According to ANI, senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders in Himachal Pradesh, including state unit President Anup Kesari, General Secretary Satish Thakur, and Una district chief Iqbal Singh, joined the BJP on Friday.
Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, inducted them into the party at a ceremony in Delhi.
Mamta Thakur, the state women’s wing chief of Arvind Kejriwal’s party, also joined the BJP in Delhi on Monday.
According to PTI, the Aam Aadmi Party downplayed the defections, claiming that the three leaders were tainted and that the party had decided to fire Kesari.
“Complaints were received about his [Kesari’s] misbehaviour with women, and we were about to expel him from the party,” Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told ANI. “He was inducted into the BJP today. That is his rightful position.”
Meanwhile, Kesari accused the Aam Aadmi Party of being full of “fake nationalists and arrogance.”
