Basavaraj Bommai Karnataka’s new chief minister

Bengaluru,27th July. Basavaraj Bommai another leader from strong Lingayat community has been selected as its new chief minister in Karnataka after the resignation of BS Yeduraapa. The decision was taken at the party’s legislature meeting in Bengaluru today.
During the BJP’s legislature party meeting, Bommai’s name was proposed by BS Yediyurappa and seconded by Karjol Ashok Eshwarappa and all BJP MLAs.

The outgoing Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, resigned on Monday and BJP in order to avoid repercussions announced the name of Basavaraj as the new chief minister from one of the politically the politically influential Lingayat community. Only three chief ministers have been able to fulfil their full term in Karnataka politics.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union minister one of the central observer sent by the party congratulated Basavaraj Bommai in a series of tweets and said he was elected unanimously by the BJP MLAs. However, it is well Known that Basavaraj was the first choice of the High Command and all the MLA’s followed suit in elected him as the leader of the parliamentary group of MLA’s.
He also said, “One of the main architects of a first-ever @BJP4India government in South India, Shri BS Yediyurappa leaves behind a lasting legacy. Compliments to him for prioritising the welfare of Karnataka. Wishing him the best in his endeavours to strengthen the party and serve the people of Karnataka.
