New Delhi, 2nd Oct: Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 156th birth anniversary at the Raj Ghat memorial in New Delhi and attended the Sarva Dharma Prarthana.
In a post on social media, Shri Radhakrishnan said Bapu’s life and teachings showed the path of truth, love, and selfless service to humanity. He highlighted Gandhiji’s emphasis on Antyodaya—uplifting the weakest and poorest—as a timeless message that continues to inspire not just India but the entire world.
The Vice-President also visited the Vijay Ghat memorial to honour former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. Remembering him as a symbol of simplicity, honesty, and moral courage, Shri Radhakrishnan said Shastri ji’s iconic call “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” underscored the inseparable bond between farmers and soldiers—pillars of India’s progress and security.
Later in the evening, the Vice-President paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister ‘Karmaveer’ Thiru K. Kamaraj on his death anniversary at the Vice-President’s Enclave in New Delhi.
