Ayodhya, 29th Oct: The holy city of Ayodhya is all set to host a national-level boxing championship as the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) announces the KSE Cup Senior Men’s Boxing Championship 2025, scheduled from November 7 to 10 at Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Ayodhya. Teams from all Indian states, Union Territories, and sports boards will participate in this grand event.

IABF General Secretary Rakesh Thakaran said the championship aims to provide a national platform for young boxers to display their strength and talent. “Winners will not only receive cash awards but also earn the opportunity to attend the selection camp for the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championship, to be held in Dubai from December 2–13, 2025,” he added. The global event carries a total prize purse of USD 8.32 million.

Vishal Gupta, Vice President of Uttar Pradesh and Chairman of the Organising Committee, said, “Ayodhya is emerging as a new hub for sports. Boxing instills discipline, confidence, and inner strength among youth. We warmly welcome all athletes to the land of Lord Ram.”

According to Thakaran, the event will begin on November 7 with team arrivals, registration, medical check-ups, weigh-ins, and draws. The inaugural ceremony will take place at 11 AM on November 8, followed by the preliminary and quarter-final bouts. Semi-finals are slated for November 9, while the final bouts and closing ceremony will be held on November 10.

Boxers aged between 19 and 40 years (born between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 2006) will compete across 13 weight categories ranging from 46 kg to +92 kg. Each bout will consist of three 3-minute rounds with a 1-minute rest between rounds. All matches will adhere to IABF’s medical and anti-doping standards.

Gold medal winners in each weight category will receive ₹11,000, while silver medalists will be awarded ₹5,100. Only boxers who win at least one bout will be eligible for these cash prizes. Each team’s two players will take part in the flag parade at the opening ceremony.

The organising committee will provide free accommodation, meals, and necessary equipment such as gloves and bandages to all participating athletes and officials.

Uttar Pradesh Boxing Federation General Secretary Upendra Pandey informed that a state executive meeting will be held on November 10, attended by Dr. Rakesh Mishra, National President of IABF, to discuss organisational strengthening and future strategy. Preparations for the event are in the final stage, with local arrangements reviewed in today’s coordination meeting.

The Ayodhya championship, Pandey added, will not only raise the profile of boxing but also place Ayodhya firmly on India’s national sports map.
