Ayodhya, 22nd Nov: Vedic rituals began in Ayodhya on Friday, marking the start of a grand five-day flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ram Mandir that will culminate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting the sacred flag on the temple’s spire on November 25. The event is being described by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust as a spiritual milestone symbolising the triumph of righteousness and devotion.
The rituals commenced with the worship of navagraha — the nine celestial planets. Priests and Vedic scholars from Ayodhya and Kashi performed yajnas (offerings to the sacred fire), along with recitations from the Valmiki Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas, filling the temple precincts with Vedic chants.
Anil Mishra, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, is serving as the host for the entire five-day ceremony, accompanied by his wife. The Trust said the ritual marks an era of spiritual rejuvenation and reinforces Ayodhya’s position as a centre of Hindu faith.
According to officials, a total of 108 distinguished scholars and Vedic acharyas from Ayodhya, Kashi and South India are conducting the rituals. On the first day, the traditional mandap pravesh, mandap poojan, panchang poojan, invocation of deities and the lighting of the sacred fire in the agnikund were performed.
The highlight of the ceremony will be on November 25, when Prime Minister Modi hoists the ceremonial flag on the temple’s spire — a moment the Trust says will “mark a new era for Ayodhya.”
Ayodhya Turns Into a Cultural Stage
Alongside the religious observances, the Uttar Pradesh Department of Culture is organising a vibrant two-day cultural festival on November 24 and 25 at various venues across Ayodhya. The celebrations are expected to transform the temple town into a hub of devotional festivities.
The programme features classical dance, folk performances, devotional music, traditional instruments and cultural showcases from across Uttar Pradesh. Across the ghats and temple surroundings, artists are performing folk rhythms and bhajans, offering visitors an immersive spiritual experience.
Officials expect an overwhelming turnout of devotees over the next four days as anticipation builds toward the flag hoisting by the Prime Minister.
With Ayodhya’s spiritual and cultural atmosphere intensifying, residents and pilgrims alike say the celebrations reflect a deeper sense of faith, unity and cultural pride reverberating through the temple city.
