Gurugram, 11th July: The autopsy report of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav, who was shot dead by her father at their upscale Sushant Lok residence in Gurugram, confirms she was shot four times, three of which struck her in the back, police said on Friday.

The accused, Deepak Yadav (49), was arrested shortly after the incident and has confessed to the murder, telling police he was angered by repeated taunts from villagers for “living off” his daughter’s earnings. He also reportedly objected to her running a tennis academy, which had become a source of repeated tension within the household.

Father Objected to Tennis Academy
According to Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Singh, Deepak Yadav was upset that Radhika had continued running the tennis academy despite his objections. “On many occasions, he had told her to shut it, but she did not agree. Angered, he shot her,” Singh said.

Police say Deepak believed there was no financial need for Radhika to be working, as he earned sufficient income from rental properties. On Thursday morning, as she prepared breakfast, he fired at least five rounds from his licensed .32 bore revolver, with four bullets hitting her—three in the back—killing her on the spot.

From Promising Player to Tragic End
Radhika Yadav was once a promising national-level tennis player, having played qualifying events in Indore and Kuala Lumpur earlier this year. She achieved an ITF ranking of 1999 and previously held an All India Tennis Association (AITA) Under-18 rank of 75, and a women’s singles rank of 35.

Her uncle, who discovered the body, told police that she was a talented athlete with several trophies to her name and expressed shock over her murder.
