The Prime Minister stressed that while treating a major illness such as cancer can be extremely tough for both the patient and their family, the government is working to make sure that no patient has to deal with this. Approximately thirty new cancer hospitals have been established throughout the nation in the last nine years, and development on ten more facilities is currently underway, according to the prime minister.

In order to effectively treat cancer, the prime minister emphasized the significance of early detection. He made the point that by the time the villagers receive a diagnosis, the disease has already begun to spread. The Prime Minister stated that in order to prevent such circumstances, the Central Government has constructed over 1.5 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs at the village level, with a focus on early identification of numerous critical illnesses, including cancer. “Doctors also receive a great deal of assistance in treating cancer when it is discovered early,” he continued. As he noted Ayushman Arogya Mandir’s critical role in the early diagnosis of ailments like cervical cancer and breast cancer, Shri Modi stated that women had also profited enormously from the Central Government’s efforts.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Gujarat has developed into a major medical hub of India and has seen unparalleled advancements in the last 20 years in the field of health. He told them that there were only 11 medical colleges in Gujarat up till 2002, but now there are 40. He went on to say that in the past 20 years, there have been nearly five times as many MBBS seats here, and there have also been roughly three times as many PG seats. “AIIMS is now located in Rajkot as well,” he stated. Additionally, he emphasized that, in the last 20 years, the number of Diploma Pharmacy Colleges has gone from six to about thirty, while the number of Pharmacy Colleges in Gujarat has increased from only 13 in 2002 to about 100 now. With the establishment of community health clinics in every village, Gujarat has demonstrated a paradigm of significant reform in the health sector, PM Modi said, bringing health amenities to impoverished and tribal areas. “The Gujarati public’s faith in the 108 ambulance service has been steadily growing,” he continued.

Shri Modi underlined that any nation’s progress depends on having a robust and healthy community. The Prime Minister stated, “With the blessings of Khodal Mata, our government is following this thinking today.” He brought up the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which has assisted in the treatment of over 6 crore people to date, many of whom are cancer patients, and has allowed them to save one lakh crore rupees. In addition, he announced the establishment of 10,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which would provide drugs at an 80% savings. Additionally, the prime minister announced that there would now be 25,000 PM Jan Aushadhi Centers. He said that by saving patients, Rs 30,000 crores had been saved. “Many cancer patients have benefited from government price controls on cancer medications,” he continued.

Emphasizing his extensive history with the trust, Prime Minister Modi presented nine demands. First and foremost, to conserve every drop of water and raise awareness of the issue.
