New Delhi 16 November : The Assam Pavilion has emerged as one of the greatest draws at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 in New Delhi, presenting a dynamic fusion of cultural vibrancy, economic potential, and entrepreneurial spirit of the state. Inaugurated on Friday by Indira R. Kalita, Secretary, Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Department, Government of Assam, the pavilion stands as a striking representation of the national theme, “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.”

The fair, organised in Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, has attracted thousands of visitors, many of whom were particularly captivated by the visually rich and economically diverse showcase by Assam. One of the main pavilions includes 41 MSME stalls, a strong lineup of innovative startups, and an impressive spread of ODOP exhibits highlighting the evolving industrial landscape of the state while celebrating its traditional craftsmanship.

A Hub of Entrepreneurship and Indigenous Craft

A rainbow of colours greets the visitor as some of the most representative products of Assam come into sight: from premium-class Assam tea, popular worldwide for its fragrance and strength, to exquisitely crafted bamboo and cane items, the pavilion reflects the depth of local skill and the rising confidence of rural industries. Agarwood products, which have earned Assam global recognition, also feature prominently, drawing interest from buyers, traders, and international delegates.

Skilled artisans and entrepreneurs have come from all over to showcase their best handloom textiles, traditional garments, decorative items, organic produce, and processed food products. The involvement of several state agencies, such as Assam Tourism, AIDC, the Agriculture Department, NEDFi, and AGMC, has paved the way for a holistic and integrated approach toward showcasing Assam’s immense potential in various spheres of trade, investment, and innovation.

Cultural Grandeur Meets Modern Aspirations

Besides commerce, the Assam Pavilion has been successfully able to provide an immersive cultural experience. The exhibitions highlighted two of the most cherished UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the state: Charaideo Maidam, the royal burial site of the Ahom dynasty, and the world-famous Kaziranga National Park, home to the one-horned rhinoceros. These installations have helped visitors understand Assam not just as a destination for business but also as a treasure house of heritage, ecology, and spirituality.

Performances have formed part of the biggest attractions: Jam-packed audiences who watched in awe as the pulsating rhythms of Bihu, the most celebrated folk dance of Assam, merged with the elegant and graceful Bagarumba dance of the Bodo people. The display of the Guru Asana-an iconic symbol of the Vaishnavite culture of Assam-inspired by the teachings of Srimanta Sankaradeva-added a powerful spiritual dimension to the pavilion.

Umesh Kumar, Director of the Assam Pavilion, said the effort was to project the state as a venue where tradition meets innovation. “Through harmonious presentation of tradition and modernity, the Department of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprise has positioned Assam as a hub of creativity, resilience, and economic promise,” he said.

A Complete Assam Experience at IITF 2025

In fact, the pavilion has emerged as one of the most striking features within this fair because of its thoughtful mix of business, culture, community, and heritage that attracted both domestic and foreign visitors. It has represented the evolving identity of Assam, steeped in its rich cultural heritage but confidently forging ahead toward new economic horizons for many first-time visitors. The 44th India International Trade Fair opened on November 14 and will go on till November 27, allowing more visitors to see the Assam Pavilion and experience at first hand the spirit of the state.
