Guwahati, 8th Jan. The Assam Government has declared January 22 as a ‘dry day’ in honor of the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. This decision was announced by Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The ceremony in Ayodhya is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several chief ministers, and over 6,000 people.
Additionally, the cabinet has approved increased financial and administrative powers for three development councils representing the Mising, Rabha Hasong, and Tiwa communities. A proposal will be sent to the Centre to secure more funds for these councils.
The government has also provided a financial package for women registered under self-help groups, aiming to support their entrepreneurial ventures.
Approximately 49 lakh women can benefit from this scheme. Furthermore, the cabinet has extended the coverage of the National Food Security Act to include government employees and pensioners with an annual income of less than 4 lakh rupees.
These individuals will also receive health insurance of 5 lakh rupees under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Previously, government employees were not eligible for these benefits.
