New Delhi, 28th July: Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. The meeting focused on the socio-economic progress of Assam and the implementation of various welfare schemes in the northeastern state.

During their discussion, Chief Minister Sarma apprised Prime Minister Modi of the significant strides Assam has made across key socio-economic indicators. He also briefed the Prime Minister on the near saturation of major welfare schemes being implemented in the state.

A significant point of discussion was Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit to Assam on September 8. Chief Minister Sarma conveyed the anticipation of the people of Assam regarding this visit, which is expected to be a milestone in the state’s development journey. The Prime Minister is slated to inaugurate the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and dedicate India’s first bio-ethanol plant in Numaligarh, Golaghat district, during his visit.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the meeting in a post on X, stating, “CM of Assam, Shri @himantabiswa met Prime Minister @narendramodi.” Chief Minister Sarma also shared on X about having the “privilege of calling upon Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji” and briefing him on Assam’s progress and the nearing saturation of welfare schemes.
