New Delhi, 23rd Sept: Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday announced that he is shifting to Zoho, India’s homegrown software suite, urging citizens to embrace indigenous digital platforms.
“I am moving to Zoho – our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets and presentations,” Vaishnaw posted on X, sharing a video where he praised the platform’s capabilities. “This is phenomenal. I am so impressed,” he said, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for adopting domestic products and services.
Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu reposted the video, calling it “a huge morale boost” for engineers who have spent over two decades building the product suite. “We will make you proud and make our nation proud. Jai Hind,” Vembu added.
Headquartered in Chennai, Zoho Corporation offers more than 40 cloud-based applications, including Writer, Sheet and Show for productivity, Zoho CRM for customer management, and Zoho Books for accounting. Positioned as a Made-in-India alternative to Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace, Zoho has also developed its own large language model and AI agents to reduce dependence on foreign technologies.
Founded in 1996 as AdventNet and rebranded in 2009, the company launched its all-in-one Zoho One suite in 2017. While expanding into AI and enterprise tools, Zoho recently paused a $700 million semiconductor project in Karnataka after failing to secure a technology partner.
