Jammu, 2nd Feb.
The Army opened fire on Saturday after noticing a suspicious movement near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The suspicious movement was detected in the Sabra Gali area of Mendhar, and the Army immediately took action.

The firing occurred in a village in snow-covered Mendhar during the early hours of Saturday. A large-scale search operation is currently underway, and further details are awaited.

The troops stationed at the LoC are on high alert due to recent snowfall, aiming to prevent any infiltration attempts by terrorists from across the border.

Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, the General Officer Commanding of Jammu-based White Knight Corps, visited forward locations in the Poonch sector on Friday to assess the operational readiness of the formation. He urged all personnel to remain vigilant and resolute in the face of any challenges.
